The present and future of our heritage as firefighters lies in the youths that are approaching the age of adolescence. The role we play as firefighters and mentors is to nurture, train and attempt to instill the best examples possible.

Being a proactive part of the Western New York Community, the North Boston Fire Company continues their alliance with the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign for the 14th Annual HoliMont SkiScape on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 8AM-4:30PM at the HoliMont ski resort in Ellicottville, NY.

The Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign was created in 1987 with the sole purpose to raise, manage and distribute funds for the development and support of facilities, education and prevention programs for adolescents and their families in Western New York suffering from alcohol and drug dependency/addiction.

The North Boston Fire Company is proud to continue their alliance with Kids Escaping Drugs to present the 7th Annual “Lake Effect Firefighters Ski Race” on Sunday January 8th , 2012 at HoliMont ski resort in Ellicottville, NY.  Members of the North Boston Fire Company have worked together with the public relations staff to coordinate the “Lake Effect Firefighters Ski Race”held in conjunction with the SkiScape event. This event promises to accomplish many goals, the most significant being the camaraderie and public interaction with the proud tradition of the fire service, while raising funds to help curb an out of control epidemic that directly affects our livelihood as firefighters. After 6 successful events, we are counting on you to keep up the tradition.

So, mark the date now, and please tell 100 of your closest friends! If you don’t have a team of 4, call on neighbors for mutual aid, or register single and we will place you in a team. Even if you don’t want to compete in the race, you can participate in the 14th Annual HoliMont Skiscape at the same price and benefits. Get in on the fun of trying to dethrone the reigning Champions from West Valley Fire Department, while fending off those perennial competitors from the hometown of Ellicottville, in addition to the International Team from Milton Ontario, and the very competitive team from Palenville in Green County!! Come join your brother and sister firefighters in making a difference!! You are guaranteed to crack a laugh and smile through the day of spirited competition.

What could be more fun then to see four firefighters wearing full protective equipment, on skis, linked together by carrying a 50ft length of 1 3/4″ hose through a race course? Fastest Team wins and spills are frequent. (Complete list of rules will be furnished upon registration) PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! 

Donation for each team member is $60 which provides:

•Lift ticket to ski at HoliMont ($57 value)
